Connect an HR system
Resorcerer can read your people and groups straight out of the HR system you already run. Once connected, People Sync keeps the directory current on a schedule, and every live model picks up the joiners, leavers and moves from there.
The connection is read-only: Resorcerer never writes to your HR system.
Supported systems
Section titled “Supported systems”Most mainstream HR and payroll platforms are supported, including Workday, BambooHR, HiBob, Personio, Rippling, Gusto, Paylocity, UKG, Dayforce, SAP SuccessFactors and Deel. The full list is shown when you connect; if yours isn’t there, import a CSV instead.
Connections are made through our integration partner, Merge, which holds the credentials you enter and reads your HR system on Resorcerer’s behalf. Only employees, employments, groups, locations and companies are read. See the privacy notice for how that data is handled.
Connecting
Section titled “Connecting”You need to be an organization admin, and an administrator of the HR system itself.
- Open the organization switcher at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Organization settings → Integrations → Add integration → HR system.
- Choose Connect HR system. A secure window opens where you pick your system and authorize access: for most systems you sign in to it; for some you paste an API key or an access token the system issues.
- When the window reports success, the integration appears in your list, named after the system you connected.
- Open it and turn on People Sync.
The HR system is imported into the integration service first, which can take from a few minutes to an hour for a large directory. A People Sync run during that time reports that the first import is still running and reads nothing; run it again, or let the next scheduled run pick it up. Test connection on the integration says where the import stands.
What is synced
Section titled “What is synced”| In your HR system | In Resorcerer |
|---|---|
| Employee name and work email (personal email if there is no work email) | Person name and email |
| Current job title | Title |
| Department | Department |
| Work location, company | Location and company text, which the matching rules turn into attributes |
| Manager | Manager |
| Start and termination dates, employment status | Start date, end date, active |
| Teams, departments, cost centers and business units, with their nesting and members | Groups |
A person’s role, level, location and company attributes are not read from the HR system: they are derived from the title, department, location and company text by your match expressions, exactly as for a CSV import. Someone with no email address in the HR system is skipped and counted in the run.
Everything else about People Sync applies as described in Integrations: matching on the HR system’s identifier, adopting people a CSV import created, managed fields, leavers marked inactive rather than deleted, and your plan’s people allowance.
Connection status
Section titled “Connection status”The top of the integration’s page says where the connection stands:
- Importing your HR data: connected, and the first import is still running. The page checks again by itself every half minute.
- Connected: up to date, with when data was last imported.
- Some data can’t be read: connected, with the problems listed (a missing permission, for example).
- Reconnect needed: the HR system needs you to sign in again, usually because a password or API key changed.
- Connection removed: the connection no longer exists and has to be made again.
Where signing in again is the fix, a Reconnect button opens the same secure window on your existing connection. Reconnecting keeps everyone’s link to the HR system, so nobody is re-created; only the sign-in is renewed.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”On the integration’s People Sync card:
- Department comes from and Company comes from: which of the HR system’s group types supplies each. The defaults are the department group and the HR system’s company record; an HR system that models the company as a division or business unit changes the company source to that type, or to nothing.
- Sync groups, and group types to mirror: whether the HR system’s groups become Groups, and which types. Everything is mirrored by default.
- Fields the sync manages: which person fields the sync keeps current and locks against hand edits. Untick a field to keep editing it by hand. This section is the same for every integration that pulls from an upstream system.
Disconnecting
Section titled “Disconnecting”Delete the integration to disconnect. The people and groups it synced stay, released to hand editing; the credentials held by the integration service are removed.
